CORRECT!

You really know your librarian trivia!

Richard Rogers Bowker was the Vice President of the Edison Electric Illuminating Company, which was next door to the Publishers Weekly and Library Journal magazine offices on Pearl Street in Manhattan. He would check in on the magazines during his lunch break.

Richard's vocational focus must have inspired the many “light” metaphors in his poetry, prose, and quotes. Our favorite is: “The Book: from its light other lights may be lighted forever.” Stop by Booth 2008 at ALA and we’ll give you a brand new R.R. Bowker button with our gracious founder’s photo and this quote!
